Manchester United have reportedly been knocked back with a bid of £80million for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
That's according to an article on Il Bianconero, which says United are among a host of clubs interested in signing the highly-rated Serbia international. The €91million offer made by United is also reported to have included a 10% sell-on clause but even that wasn't enough to convince Lazio to sell their star man. Meanwhile, Arturo Vidal, who United have been repeatedly linked with in recent years, has opened the door to a possible Bayern Munich exit. His contract with the Bavarian giants will expire next summer. "At this moment everyone knows that I have one year left with Bayern, I am very calm, I know what I am worth, I know when I have to play important matches who I am and that is why there are so many offers when the market opens," Vidal is quoted as saying by Metro. "This time I’m going to take it easy, my representative Fernando Felicevich is attentive to everything, I will try to rest and recover in the best way to see if I change equipment or not, be one hundred percent.
"If I change my team it’s going to be for the better, to fight for the Champions League, to win titles, to fight for important things."

Roman Abramovich has reportedly scrapped £1billion plans to redevelop Chelsea’s stadium — because ‘he is unwilling to invest in a country where he can’t work’. The Russian billionaire, 51, has also revoked his own visa application as he is tired of waiting for one, according to reports. Met Office upgrades weather warning to amber for 48 hours of thunder and lightning He has been forced to seek Israeli citizenship to regain entry to the UK as part of the country’s response to the Salisbury nerve attack in March. Now Mr Abramovich, who is worth £9.3billion, is said to have dropped plans to upgrade Stamford Bridge as he is unwilling to invest £1billion into a country in which he is no longer permitted to work. The businessman has reportedly quit his visa request (Picture: Sandra Mailer/REX/Shutterstock) And his 40-month visa expired in April, which forced him to miss Chelsea’s FA Cup final triumph over Manchester United. Israeli sources claim the steel and oil magnate ripped up his visa request recently, fed up of being treated as a ‘new applicant’. Mr Abramovich has declined to comment on the claims. The dad-of-seven became the owner of the companies that control Chelsea in June 2003. Since then, he has pumped billions into the west London club.

Planning permission has been granted to completely overhaul Stamford stadium (Picture: PA/Herzog & de Meuron) But the 60,000-sea arena is on hold due to ‘the current unfavourable investment climate’, the club said. In a statement released today, The Blues said: ‘Chelsea Football Club announces today that it has put its new stadium project on hold. No further pre-construction design and planning work will occur. ‘The club does not have a time frame set for reconsideration of its decision. ‘The decision was made due to the current unfavourable investment climate.’

NIGERIA: Open Letter to President Muhammadu Buhari on the state of the nation

NIGERIA: Open Letter to President Muhammadu Buhari on the state of the nation
4/ 5 stars - "NIGERIA: Open Letter to President Muhammadu Buhari on the state of the nation" Dear Sir, I write this letter to you, Mr. President, with all sincerity and humility, as it is my very first letter to you since your emerg...

Dear Sir, I write this letter to you, Mr. President, with all sincerity and humility, as it is my very first letter to you since your emergence as President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of our great country, Nigeria.

I would first of all like to use this opportunity to formally apologise to the immediate past President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, for all the tantrums and mistreatment orchestrated by me against his person while he held sway at the helm of affairs of our great country. Indeed, I and many others may have misunderstood Jonathan's silence for weakness and thus pushed harder to malign his person and portray him as a weak leader. Having achieved the Change Agenda, it is now crystal clear, that the change we had clamoured for is not the change we got. While this may have come as a rude shock to some of us who preached the change mantra assiduously, particularly the youth, I am consoled by the fact that, Nigeria shall get to the promise land someday and our generations yet unborn will appreciate the genuine efforts made by those of us who stood on the path of truth, rather than being praise singers sycophants. Mr. President, I am sure that the current state of our dear country should be a cause of genuine concern, as the symptoms of the ailment you had come to cure seem to have morphed into a killer virus waiting to consume its patient (Nigeria) as the clock ticks away. The damning assessment of Nigeria under your leadership as released by the United States Department of State in its 2017 country reports on Human Rights, cited impunity as being widespread at all levels of government and lack of transparency by your administration. The report noted that massive corruption by government officials and security agencies is on the rise with most perpetrators being shielded from trial, thus giving room for reckless practices with impunity. The report stated that, “although the law provides for criminal penalties for conviction of official corruption, the government did not implement the law effectively, and officials frequently engaged in corrupt practices with impunity...massive, widespread and pervasive corruption affected all levels of government and the security services." Today there is hardship everywhere with the price of fuel now N145 per as against the N85 that it was being sold when you assumed office - the over N1.4trillion already paid by your government as fuel subsidy notwithstanding. You will agree with me, Mr. President, that a report of this magnitude coming from a foreign government should be a cause for serious concern as it posits that your Anti-Corruption Agenda is merely a hoax. Furthermore, your famous slogan of “belonging to everybody and belonging to nobody” has turned out to be a mere Public Relations gimmick, meant to soothe the egos of the spectators that were present at your historic swearing-in-ceremony. Other assessment cited by the report include the extra judicial killing of IPOB members, Col. Sambo Dasuki’s continuous incarceration, widespread human rights abuses and flagrant disregard for the Rule of Law, under this administration. You will recall, Mr. President, that a similar report from the Transparency International (TI) was rubbished by your Ministers who claimed the global body was biased in its assessment. Surely, both agencies could not have conspired to tarnish the reputation of your government, as Nigerians can also decipher the high partiality and nepotism being practised by your government, which represents a new low in the history of governance in Nigeria. I would therefore recommend that your Special Adviser on Media and Publicity should grab a copy of THISDAY Newspaper of Tuesday, 24 April 2018 and perhaps brief you further on the report, in the event that the content of the report has not been brought to your attention.Mr. President, it may also interest you to know that the economy under your watch has been terribly battered, with all the economic indices indicating that we are yet to recover from the recession of 2016, owing to your ill conceived policies as against the rhetoric of the erstwhile administration being responsible for our woes. The GDP growth before you took over government and three years after being in the saddle of governance attests to woeful failure of government policies while gambling with the nation’s economic gains. The high unemployment and poverty rate as released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) should be a cause of concern to any well-meaning Nigerian, as the masses can barely survive with their current meagre income which leaves them with little or no savings to embark on other meaningful economic ventures to better their lot. Furthermore sir, I am sure that you’re aware that the level of insecurity in the country now has reached an all time high with an average of at least 50 deaths weekly to the bewilderment of the an already wearied population, whose hopes are dashed on a daily basis. Only last week over 120 persons were kidnapped along the Birnin-Gwari Road in Kaduna State. The farmers/herders crises has continued to claim precious lives as if the nation is in a state of war. Moreover, the statement credited to you that the killer herdsmen were trained by the late Moumar Gadaffi of Libya is most unfortunate as nothing is being done to police the borders in order to prevent them from coming in as well as declaring a state of emergency on these murderous killers. More so, the statement credited to former Minister of Defence, Gen. T.Y. Danjuma came as another rude shock to Nigerians on the state of our security architecture in the nation, not also forgetting the statements attributed to former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, reemphasising, that the government under your watch has failed Nigerians. Surely, the opinions of your comrades cannot all be a farce, but rather a wakeup call to your administration that all is indeed not well with the nation. This is why I dare say that a re-election bid in the wake of this wanton killings and widespread sacrilege in the land, is definitely not the right thing to do at this time in a country engulfed with so much bloodletting. Permit me to say that as things stand today, Nigeria, under your government, has become increasingly autocratic. Instead of enhancing freedom and rule of law, our democratic gains are being frittered away under the pretext of fighting corruption. The rights to freedom of speech and association are increasingly being denied. People can no longer freely express themselves without security agencies harassing, accusing, arresting, parading, and prosecuting them like common criminals over spurious allegations. I dare say that I am by this letter offering myself to pay whatever price it will take for Nigeria to be free once again. I know your goons will soon come after me but I am not bothered a bit. I will continue to speak the truth. I spoke the truth when Jonathan, my kinsman, was in power and I will continue to speak the truth. Be that as it may, the truth is that you have destroyed our democracy so much so that Nigerians are now living in fear. Under your tenure the rule of law has been replaced with the rule of force. You have injected fear into the society. People who voted for you to save them from corruption and ineptitude have been barred from speaking up against the myriads of evil and wicked acts being perpetrated by officials in your government. Unfortunately, corruption is in the upward swing under your watch. This is why I had to apologize to Jonathan since events of the last three years have shown the former President was a better leader. People freely expressed themselves under Jonathan's administration without fear of being branded cultists' sponsors, gunrunners or aiding murderers. But not so under this administration. Under Jonathan, Nigerians enjoyed freedom of speech, association and right to hold dissenting views including organizing and partaking in protests against unwelcome government policies. All these are no go areas today. Does it mean Jonathan was a better democrat? It is a fact that no member of the APC which was then in the opposition before 2015 was jailed or harassed for expressing dissent. However, under this administration, the Senate President is being persecuted, Senator Dino Melaye has been arrested and detained like a common criminal, Senator Matthew Urhroghide had been attached for telling Nigerians that the Federal Government breached the Constitution by paying the sum of $496million for 12 Tucano fighter jets without National Assembly approval; the trial of Senator Isa Misau by the AGF over his face-off with the Inspector General of Police, the persecution of most members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the name of fighting corruption are all examples of intolerance under this administration. Mr. President, while your fight against corruption is being promoted as gathering steam leading to an award given to you by the African Union (AU) recently, the allegation of illegal award of $25billion contracts leveled against the GMD of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), has not been investigated but rather the malfeasance and shoddy dealing in the NNPC has been swept under the carpet because as the substantive Minister of Petroleum Resources any probe of the agency will require that you make some explanations. This government has shown total disdain for court pronouncements and the enforcement of fundamental human rights of citizens. El-Zakzaky and Dasuki will not be in jail today but for the present rule of force under this government. It is a pity that today democracy and freedom have become scarce. Insecurity continues unabated. Killings take place on a daily basis across the country either by kidnappers, Boko Haram insurgents, herdsmen, and other criminal elements having a free reign around the country. Life has become worthless and uncertain and people cannot speak out for fear of being labeled anti-government by your regime. Besides, instead of heeding the wise counsel of leaders like Obasanjo, IBB, TY. Danjuma, General Gowon, and religious leaders like Bakare and Oyedepo, you have again declared to seek reelection as President. You even boasted in Bauchi that you will be reelected which was akin to saying you will rig yourself back into office. The worse acts of corruption are being perpetuated under your regime, but people are keeping quiet because of fear of reprisals. This cannot continue. You met Democracy and freedom in 2015, when you leave office, there will still be democracy and freedom for the people. Nigeria will not end with you. Before you, others came, but today where are they? Under this regime, the homes of Honourabe Justices were forcefully broken into and ransacked. Many of them were suspended and are currently being prosecuted by agents of the executive. If this is not intimidation of the highest order what is it? Despite immunity conferred in him by the Constitution, the home of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State was raided. The Governor of Rivers State had to approach the courts for an injunction to forestall a similar treatment being meted on him. Is it not curious that Senator Shehu Sani and Dino Melaye have been framed up as being connected to criminal murder suspects just because they politically differ with their state governors? It is not also true that Saraki and the Governor of Kwara State are now being roped into the case of alleged cultists and murder suspects arrested in Ilorin? If this is not harassment, intimidation and humiliation of perceived opponents of your administration, then what is it? Don't forget that the Senate led by Saraki has been in a ding-dong with the Inspector General of Police for refusing to honour the legitimate summons of the upper chamber. The plot to once again implicate Saraki in murder activities using alleged cult members earlier arrested in Kwara State is a new low in the antics of this administration to harass, intimidate and humiliate members of the opposition especially those of the defunct New PDP arm of the APC. The recent attack on the Rivers State Judiciary, the invasion of the Senate and forceful theft of its mace without arrests or word of condemnation by you make the security situation worse and worrisome. The vehemence with which members of the opposition and the New PDP arm of the APC are being persecuted makes one to wonder why close aides of yours and other high officials in this administration with criminals allegations against them are not equally being prosecuted. Are you no longer for everybody and belong to nobody? What is good for PDP and New PDP members ought to be good for members of the CPC, ACN, ANPP and a faction of APGA in the APC as well. The reality is that members of the APC are sacred cows that can do no wrong. This growing intolerance, repression and coercion against innocent citizens has led me to the painful resolve to once again offer myself as a sacrificial lamb to pay the price for Nigeria's total emancipation from the shackles of tyranny being perpetuated by your government. I therefore, urge all Nigerians to wake up and face the current realities and save Nigeria from total collapse under the jackboots of impunity by this administration. History will not be fair to me if I had championed the campaigns against former President Jonathan and now remain silent in the face of anti-democratic tendencies and sheer impunity. It is my sincere hope that this letter meets you well. I also hope that my outburst will not be seen from the angle of disrespect, but rather of despair and urgency. I believe it is high time for you, as the President and Commander-In-Chief to arrest the situation and restore peace, security and rule of law in the country and confidence in the people once more.
anything Fulani or Islam but they fail to realise that Igbos supported Yar'adua till death, even Shagari had massive followership in the east during his tenure, Nnamdi Kanu with his extreme views praised the leadership style of those men who are Fulanis. Truth be told Nigeria is bleeding. Firstly, it was an attack on Judges and shockingly many people supported the dastardly act in the name of fighting corruption, now it has creeped into the legislative arm and surprisingly some zombified people are still backing the outlandish janjaweedism on perceived political enemies. Very soon the next port of call will be the media and before anyone realises what's happening our narccent democracy will totally collapse then we will be talking about keeping the country together as one, when other nations are thinking of sending people to Mars.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The 60 dioceses that make up the Roman Catholic community in Nigeria have concluded plans to hold a nationwide protest on May 22, 2018, following a directive by the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN). Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Reverend Dr Alfred Adewale Martins, stated this in an interaction with newsmen last Sunday, to mark the 2018 World Communication Day at Holy Cross Cathedral, Lagos Island. He said the march was to protest the killings of priests and worshippers in Benue State, as well as the general insecurity in the country. According to him, the dioceses will hold a requiem Mass for the two slain priests to coincide with their interment in Makurdi, Benue State. “After the requiem Mass, each diocese will hold a solemn protest to demonstrate the church’s displeasure with the Federal Government over the killing of innocent Nigerians. Here in Lagos Archdiocese, the archbishop and priests will lead other lay faithful on a protest march from St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Ikeja, to the Lagos State government house to meet the governor. “We cannot tell our members to carry arms to protest ourselves. We will only tell them the truth about the situation of things in Nigeria. It is left for them to decide who they want to vote for as their leaders come 2019,” he stated. In a related development, according to messages made available to TribuneChurch, the Catholic Diocese of Osogbo and the Archdiocese of Ibadan also stated that all was set for the protest. The message from the Catholic Diocese of Osogbo, on the protest tagged: March for Life, read: “This is being organised to protest the incessant killings taking place in all parts of our country. We are calling on government to provide adequate security for everyone and take decisive steps in ending the current culture of death through sincere respect for, protection and promotion of human life.”

Istanbul, Turkey - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called on Muslim leaders to unite and confront Israel, days after scores of Palestinians were killed by Israeli snipers as they marked 70 years of Israeli occupation.

Speaking at an extraordinary summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Friday, Erdogan said Israel should be held accountable over the killings which drew widespread international condemnation and triggered a wave of protests from Asia, through the Middle East, to North Africa. "To take action for Palestinians massacred by Israeli bandits is to show the whole world that humanity is not dead," Erdogan told the group of Muslim leaders gathered in Turkey's largest city, Istanbul. The Turkish president described Israel's killing of Palestinians as "thuggery, atrocity and state terror," and said the US' recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital would inevitably haunt it. 'US part of the problem' On Monday, just as the US went ahead with the controversial relocation of its embassy to Jerusalem, 62 Palestinians, including five children, were killed and more than 2,700 wounded as the Israeli army fired live ammunition and tear gas at protesters who had assembled hundreds of metres from a 1949 armistice line between Gaza and Israel. The protesters in the besieged enclave had gathered to commemorate Nakba Day - an event in 1948 when Zionist paramilitaries ethnically cleansed Palestinian cities and towns. About 750,000 people were forcibly expelled from historical Palestine. The Istanbul summit was attended by several heads of state, but Saudi Arabia, the host of the 57-member OIC, sent only a senior foreign ministry official. Egypt, Bahrain and the UAE also deployed lower level ministers. Speaking at the conference, Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani said the Palestinian cause had "become a symbol for oppressed peoples everywhere" and condemned Israel for "brutal massacre" of peaceful demonstrators. "Who among us does not know the declared siege forced on Gaza Strip and collective punishment against its population?" the emir said. "The Gaza Strip has been transformed into a large concentration camp for millions of people who are deprived of their most basic rights to travel, education, work and medical treatment. "When their sons take arms they are called terrorists, and when they stage peaceful demonstrations they are called extremists, and are shot dead with live ammunition." For his part, Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah said the US had become "part of the problem and not the solution" and called the relocation of the embassy "an act of aggression against the Islamic nation, against Muslims and Christians". Jordanian King Abdullah II urged for the adoption of urgent measures to back "the resistance of Palestinians", while Iranian President Hasan Rouhani called for economic and political measures against the US and Israel. Late on Friday, the OIC issued a final communique calling on the United Nations to form an international investigation into the killings in Gaza; the creation of an international protection force for Palestinians, and for the OIC to place economic restrictions on any countries, companies or individuals who recognise Israel's annexation of Jerusalem. Thousands protest in solidarity with Palestine Earlier in the day, Erdogan told a raucous crowd of more than 10,000 people in Istanbul's Yenikapi fairground that the Muslim world had to unite and "pull themselves back together". Palestine rally: Iran protest against Israel's Gaza killings "Muslims are way too busy fighting and disagreeing with themselves, and shy away when confronted by their enemies," he told the audience. "Since 1947, Israel has been free to do what it likes in this region. They do whatever they feel like. But this reality can be undone … if we unite." Earlier this week, Turkey recalled its envoys to Israel and the US following the killings of the Palestinians and the relocation of Washington's embassy from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv. Tolgar Memis, a German-Turk, said he came to the rally to support Erdogan's recent remarks and policies against Israel. "What we've seen over the last few years, all the injustice, and what happened earlier this week - it's simply unacceptable. "Erdogan has made great strides in defending the Palestinians, something he is obligated to do, and hopefully other leaders will follow his cue." Speaking at the conference, Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani said the Palestinian cause had "become a symbol for oppressed peoples everywhere" and condemned Israel for "brutal massacre" of peaceful demonstrators. "Who among us does not know the declared siege forced on Gaza Strip and collective punishment against its population?" the emir said. "The Gaza Strip has been transformed into a large concentration camp for millions of people who are deprived of their most basic rights to travel, education, work and medical treatment. "When their sons take arms they are called terrorists, and when they stage peaceful demonstrations they are called extremists, and are shot dead with live ammunition."

The crises rocking the Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) continued to fester, as the group loyal to Governor Rochas Okorocha has resolved to boycott the state congress holding today. Secretary of the party, Obioma Iroagu, who dropped the hint to reporters at the National Secretariat in Abuja, justified their position saying it was based on an injunction issued by an Imo Federal high Court on the 18th of this month presided by justice Lewes Alagoa ordering the stoppage of the congress.

Iroagu explained that the resolve to approach the court to wade into the mater was premised on the fact that his group had lost confidence in the leadership of the Party led by chief John Odigie-Oyegun. Flanked officials of the stage government, he maintained that the ward and local government congresses was marred by illigalities, fraud, and deception.

National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Muiz Banire, in this interview by the Saturday Tribune crew, consisting of LANRE ADEWOLE, SEGUN KASALI AND SYLVESTER OKORUWA shoots straight from the hips, speaking on issues affecting the ruling party and governance matters.

Well, the problem is that when you give suggestions and people, for selfish reason and out of mischief at times, decide to cast it aside, the result we are experiencing now is what you get. Those who are experienced in this game will know that there are hardly any ways you can run a congress that will be rancour-free and you do not endanger the goal or the objective of your party when it is close to the general elections. It is never advisable and the good news is that, hiding under the constitutional provision of the APC and also the interpretation already given to it in the case of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), you have a way of protecting yourself strategically. But in the wisdom of some people, they felt this is the way to go and I know that, as at now, they should be happier that they have killed not less than 15 people, apart from other confusion around. If that was their goal and they have achieved it, we thank them, we appreciate and we leave them to God. As an insider, what really happened between the APC NEC where the acting period was granted and the other NEC where President Muhammadu Buhari made a u-turn? My view is that the president was misled by some people, probably out of mischief or ignorance of the law. Those people know themselves and honestly I know that they will be behind it. The president was at the meeting in which we took the decision, in the first instance. So coming back again and, of course, the president did indicate that he was advised by some people and I believe that those people who must have told him must either be ignorant of the position of the law or were acting relatively out of mischief.

What about the Governor Simeon Lalong Committee Report?

The Lalong Committee validated my own legal advisory then. In the first instance, there was nothing like extension of tenure, but out of mischief, those mischief-makers also decided for their own convenience and propaganda to use the word “extend”. Nobody ever extended the tenure by one day. All that was resolved was that a caretaker committee should be set up pending the conclusion of all the general elections. But they twisted it and the same thing they took to Mr President also. So, when the matter was referred to the Technical Committee, consisting of many senior advocates that were not even politicians from outside and Lalong, who happens to be a lawyer, had to chair the committee. They looked at all I did and they decided that the position was unassailable. When asked, what was his position?, he (Lalong) said he advised the party that, given the reality of the devastating effects of having conflict-prone congresses in an election circle, the acting appointment was in order. That was my position: that it was unassailable and the position represents the position of the law. But in order not to make some people look bad, they now said that trial should be given to a congress and if it fails, we will revert back to the caretaker arrangement.

The federal government on Wednesday approved the transfer of about $650 million (about N198.9 billion) to the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) as initial funding for the take -off of the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund (PIDF). The National Economic Council (NEC) announced the establishment of the Fund and the disbursement of the disbursement of the initial funding at the end of its meeting in Abuja. The establishment of the PIDF was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari who presided over the meeting. Details released by NEC showed that the PIDF would be managed by the NSIA. The fund is expected to be invested in critical road and power projects across the country. The initial transfer of $650 million to the NSIA was authorised from the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) dividend account at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). A statement from the NSIA said the initiative was aimed at eliminating the risks of project funding, cost variation and completion that have plagued the development of the nation’s critical infrastructure assets over the last few decades. Ongoing projects mostly impacted by paucity of funding include the 2nd Niger Bridge, Lagos to Ibadan Expressway, East—West Road, Abuja to Kano Road, and Mambilla Hydroelectric Power. “This commitment by the President and NEC, allows all State Governments to own an economic interest in the project companies that will be professionally developed and managed by the NSIA,” the statement said.

“The investments will yield returns, which will diversify revenues to States, improve the fiscal sustainability profile of the Federation and ensure Nigerians benefit from modernised Infrastructure for decades to come,” it added. The NEC said the PIDF would help secure counterpart funds required for projects being co-developed with China Export-Import and China Development Banks.

The globally recognized first President in Africa who earned the sobriquet from the United States President, Donald Trump made re—affirmed his commitment to the safety of lives and properties in Nigeria after receiving briefing from the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General TY Buratai at the state house this evening. President Buhari who commended the efforts of the Chief of Army Staff in aligning with his vision on security, took to his official Facebook page to express his position of the efforts of the Nigerian Army. The Chief of Army Staff on his part said that the Nigerian Army will continue to collaborate with other security agencies to carry out all the directives of the Commander -in- Chief to achieve strategic objectives of the Nigerian government. “So, that is essentially why we had to deploy a battalion of soldiers to Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State in line with the Army’s guidelines. On the war against terrorism, the Chief of Army Staff hinted that the Nigerian Army has activated the last onslaught agianst Boko Haram. “The Nigerian Army is progressing very well and Nigerians should be rest assured that our ‘Operation Last Halt’ will further consolidate on the achievements so far made and we hope the Internally Displaced Persons in that area will go back to their communities and pick up their lives again,” he also added.

All may not have been heard about the 661 pump-action riffles that were unlawfully imported into the country in January 2017 through the Lagos port. While the accused persons have been arraigned in court and the case ongoing, one of the dramatis personae in the case, Donatus Achinulo who has been refused bail by Justice Ayokunle Faji in view of the charges leveled against him and his co-defendants is having a field day and living like a Lord in Ikoyi Prisons. IGBERE TV Investigators have discovered a lot of rot in the running of Ikoyi Prisons, one of which is a serious security breach in the Ikoyi Prisons Security Network, in connivance with DCP Tolu Ogunsakin. Investigations reveal that Donatus Achinulo who is currently standing trial and detained in Ikoyi Prisons was the one that installed the new CCTV electronics system in the prison thereby giving him and his boys access to monitor the entire prison security system. He, Donatus also provided free Walkie-Talkies to Prison Warders, which he allegedly intercepts to monitor official communications within the prisons. Further investigations have shown that the installation of the CCTV was not a project of the Ikoyi Prisons Authority as there were neither tenders nor job quotations to support the installation. The CCTV was installed 3 weeks ago by three young men brought in by Donatus Achinulo. The prison Authority doesn’t even know the name or antecedents of the company that handled the installation which is a major source of concern. Neither does the Lagos State Command nor the Abuja headquarters of the Nigeria Prison Service aware that a Fire Arms detainee who is a threat to national security installed Close Circuit TV in Ikoyi Prisons. The office of the Attorney General, the NSA, and the Nigeria Customs that are prosecuting the case are also oblivious of what is going on. IGBERE TV has it on record that The TV for monitoring the CCTV footage is on Ogunsakin’s table while another one is in the Ikeja office of Donatus Achinulo. This is really a ‘Greek gift’ so to say. We are not sure the connection between Donatus and DSP Tolu Ogunsakin. But whatever it is has accorded a lot of privileges to Donatus Achinulo. He is allowed to make telephone calls at will which is a breach of the security system of the prison. DSP Ogunsakin has also been seen secretly taking Donatus Achinulo out of the prisons for undisclosed reasons. “Matters of security, security apparatus and equipment are provided by the Nigerian Prisons Service Headquarter Abuja, while the Lagos State Government through the Security Trust Fund provide /donate security equipment and intervention to all security agencies within the state of which the Nigerian Prisons is a vital stakeholder and a beneficiary of these interventions. It is total disinformation that a serving inmate donated any security equipment to any prison”. However, in a bid to cover up and forestall any further investigation by the DSS, NSA, the Nigeria Customs and the Prisons Headquarters in Abuja, given of the gravity of the act and the implications to the Ikoyi Prisons, IGBERE TV investigations reveal that the DCP and his cohorts are scouting for an NGO that would claim responsibility for the installation of the CCTV since Abuja did not approve such. We also gathered that there exists CCTV originally installed by the Prisons Authority which has packed up because of the rot in the system. Our concern in this matter is not about the CCTV installation but who installed it: a detained prime suspect standing trial in illegal Fire Arms importation. Why did DCP Ogunsakin allow CCTV to be installed by a detainee who is standing trial for illegal importation of Firearms? Was he financially induced? What is his interest in this? If he was financially induced, how much was involved. What is the motive of Donatus Achinulo in installing the CCTV for the Prisons free of charge? Was it deliberately fixed for the inmate to monitor activities by his boys outside the prison to know the security lapses of the prison authorities? Is he planning on taking advantage of the breached prisons security system to execute his plans? It is possible that Donatus is intercepting the frequency of the Walkie-Talkies he gave to the prison Warders? These are questions that need answers. Given the sensitive nature of these development to the overall security of the country, we hereby call on the DSS and all relevant security agencies to quickly visit Ikoyi Prisons to carry out investigations to ascertain the level of breaches in the entire prisons security.

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for Jose Mourinho to end the campaign with a trophy. In Jose Mourinho’s first season last year, the Red Devils picked up a few pieces of silverware, but their campaign has been markedly less successful this term.

That being said, they’ve grown in the Premier League, and for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure, they finished second in the English top flight. An FA Cup win, then, would cap things off nicely. Mourinho, though, must pick the right team to counter Chelsea, who on their day are an impressive offensive and defensive outfit. Below, using buidlineup.com, we’ve detailed the team that we think Mourinho should select to hand a blow to his rival Antonio Conte on Saturday. Between the sticks, David De Gea is a natural and obvious choice. He’s been the best goalkeeper in the Premier League this season by some distance, and it’s fair to say that if he has a bad day, Man Utd could seriously struggle – particularly with the form that Olivier Giroud is in. In defence, Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia have emerged as Mourinho’s primary choices, and given the nature of this game, their experience will be crucial. A slight change may come in through the middle, with Eric Bailly – who hasn’t played much lately – likely required to capably deal with the likes of Eden Hazard and Giroud. Alongside him, Jones is Mourinho’s best option, though he’s hardly the strongest man in this team. The midfield will be crucial, as it’s arguably the strongest facet of Chelsea’s team. Cesc Fabregas pulls the strings, N’Golo Kante defends fantastically, and on his day Tiemoue Bakayoko provides fantastic strength and pace through the middle. Nemanja Matic, then, will likely be tasked with countering that defensively, whilst the onus will be on Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera to bulk out the midfield and pull the strings going forward.

In the attack, if fit, Romelu Lukaku must lead the line as he has been deadly this season. Alexis Sanchez’s form has been mixed this season, but he’s the sort of player that will come to life in a cup final, whilst Jesse Lingard has enjoyed the best season of his career thus far. If Man Utd’s core players perform well, Chelsea will be unable to resist, especially given their poor recent form, but Mourinho must get his preparation correct for that to be the case.

The dire need to let Biafrans understand what is playing out internationally base on my presumption, forced me into writing this work. All is not well for Nigeria as she is in terrible condition that her rate of survivalhood is on discouraging rate.

Buhari like other Nigeria leaders of Northern extraction did hoped in great Britain for sustainability of Nigeria false union. Internationally, Britain has been playing this noble role for her useless child in expense of Nigeria oil. It was same Britain that has been marketing and drafting Nigeria foreign policies as the later only stands where Britain stands internationally. Surprisingly, there arose a man named Nnamdi Kanu in pre David Cameron and Barack Obama global system. To me, that was the greatest risk taking by IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu, to emerged in such risky international system that was anti Israel, pro one Nigeria and of course anti Biafra. In line with his accurate predictions and discretion, David Cameron disappeared, Obama exited and Buhari died, living the Nigeria/Biafra quagmire into relatively pro Biafra international system. To project Arabism and please Britain, Buhari used his first two years in office to attack Israel over Palestine. In two different occasions in Qatar and New York, he called for Muslims coalition against Israel with hope Britain will save him the day Israel will roar. In fact, Buhari today is greatly disappointed on the failure of Britain to save Nigeria. It was a great shock for Buhari to realise that Israel is building up military presence in Lome with an eye on Nigeria. U. S presently doing same in Ghana with an eye on saving "christains in Nigeria ". What got Abuja mad now is that Britain could not stop Ghana from providing lands for U. S United Accord coalition forces presently in Ghana. Abuja is wondering how the United Accord forces coalition which comprise of US, Canada, Germany and other African states could be constituted by U.S without Britain being part of the coalition? To Aso Rock, this is danger! It obvious to them that danger looms. How best could this danger be averted, they now choose to shun Britain and run to Israel having seen how Britain is presently humiliated by Donald Trump and Benjamin Netayahu. Against British and conservative Fulani Sokoto Caliphate, Nigeria sent delegate to witness US embassy opening in Jerusalem. Buhari has abandoned Palestinians to save Nigeria. The same Buhari who was too critical of Israel over Palestine comfortably observed the killing of over 42 violent Palestinian rioters in Gaza Strip yesterday and till date, Nigeria did not condemned it? That is how frustrated and desperate Nigeria is today courtesy of IPOB. Now Nigeria has to eat her vomit by attending the opening ceremony of the same Embassy she voted against in UN, what do you think US and Israel will tell her! This I will talk about in the next write up.... ApproveDeleteMore Actions Ugochukwu Nwaeke shared a post. A distress call received from Benjamin Madubugwu vide Welfare Department office of Kuje prison this morning, called for immediate attention of the international community, United Nations, European Union and responsible international organizations. From the account given over the telephone, Benjamin Madubugwu narrated to us how he and other two IPOB members (Bright CHIMEZIE and David Nwawuisi) has been singled out and consequently subjected to various forms of inhuman treatments and degradation. Benjamin Madubugwu was in the recent past diagonise of life threatening ailments which requires urgent advance medical attention overseas. Following the intervention of the court, an order was made allowing him access to his personal Doctor. Most shockingly, but very interesting to note that in a plot reasonably believed to have been orchestrated by agents of the State, his personal physician in the person of Dr. Ikechukwu Amadi who is administering improvise medical care on him was in a mysterious circumstance killed by persons believed to be working for the stare. Dr Amadi has since the 27th day of April 2018 committed to mother earth in his home town at Udi in Enugu State while the real cause of his sudden but mysterious death is yet to be unravelled.

It's not unlikely that the state is seriously strategising on their next possible target. Mr Benjamin Madubugwu who is presently languishing in Kuje medium security prison since 2015 for offences he never committed has been refused bail severally on grounds and circumstances not sustainable under the extant laws, practise and procedures. It is important to alert the world that Benjamin who had expressed fears of grand design by the paid scrupulous prison official to eminiate him at all cost and by any means, during his numerous appearance in court and during our private visit to him in Kuje prison may be counting his days on earth If no urgent step is taken by responsible international organizations, and commity of nations to call Nigerian Government to order. It is on the stenght of this ugly development that we are inviting the International community, Transperancy International, President Trump and Israelite counterpart to immediately intervene. This is a country where Government has no respect for the sanctity of Rules of Law. Thank you. Bar. IFEANYI ejiofor (IPOB General Counsel)

Arsenal are reportedly lining up a £53m deal to sign defender Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli this summer. The Gunners face a summer of change with Arsene Wenger stepping down as manager after 22 years following a campaign which has seen them post their lowest finish and lowest points tally under the Frenchman. Arsenal ended the season with the worst defensive record in the top seven and their own highest number of goals conceded since 1983-84, and so have been looking for defensive reinforcements to bolster their back line next term. The Express reports that the club have identified centre-back Koulibaly as an ideal option to shore up the heart of their defence, which has also been left weakened by a long-term injury to Laurent Koscielny and the retirement of Per Mertesacker. However, Arsenal would face stiff competition for the signature of Koulibaly, who has also been linked with Chelsea and Barcelona. The North London outfit are otherwise understood to be considering a move for Jonny Evans, who is available for just £3m following West Bromwich Albion's relegation from the Premier League.

The Liverpool front-man scored as Liverpool dominated Brighton & Hove Albion FC in the final round of the English Premier League to claim the competition’s Golden Boot. Salah managed to break another record but this time on Fantasy Premier League for getting the most points to his name in a single season with 303 points. He has surpassed ex-Liverpool striker, Luis Suarez who got 295 points in the 2013/2014 season, Frank Lampard’s 284 points in 2009/2010 and Cristiano Ronaldo in 2007/2008. Alongside claiming the Golden Boot, Salah became the highest scoring player for a 38-game Premier League campaign scoring 32 goals breaking a record jointly held by Alan Shearer, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez with 31 goals. He collected his FPL points not only due to the goals he has scored but also to the ones he assisted, as the Pharaoh managed 10 assists in the Premier League this campaign more than any Liverpool player.

Antonio Conte insists the FA Cup final will not be his final game in charge of Chelsea, but warned his players they “don’t have a chance” if there is a repeat of their performance against Newcastle. Chelsea were thrashed 3-0 by Newcastle on an afternoon which they began with the potential to overtake Liverpool into fourth, but meekly ended the campaign outside the Champions League places, having won the Premier League last season. Conte’s future is uncertain, but he still has the FA Cup final against Manchester United on Saturday to end the season with a trophy. Asked directly if the FA Cup final will be his last match in charge, Conte replied: “No, I don’t think. For this season, for sure. Now to play the last game, an FA Cup, then as you know very well, I’m repeating always the same thing, I’m committed for this club and for me I support on this.
” Uncertain of selection The Italian, who has one year remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge, has rotated his squad aggressively in recent games and will spend the week assessing his players before deciding who deserves to start against United. But he was left unimpressed by those who played against Newcastle: “For sure we must change, because if we think to play a game like this in the final of the FA Cup we don’t have a chance,” Conte said. “We have six days to change our approach, our desire, our will to fight. And for this I’m the first person to answer for this. I’m the coach. After like this, I’m the first person to answer for this bad game.” Follow us on Facebook: @iPaperSport Yet Conte added a layer of confusion over his position when contemplating how damaging a failure to qualify for the Champions League will be for the club next season. “I think I’m the last person to speak about this,” he said. “You can ask the club what is the damage to finish out of the Champions League. Because I have worked with my players this season. I think it’s not right to tell something about this, because there are other people to judge our season and which are the problem to finish out of the Champions League. “I like to play to win and this is my first season I didn’t win the title. Three with Juventus, one with Chelsea. When I start a season I have always won. There is a great disappointment for me. I like to play to win. To finish fifth is a big disappointment for me.” Benitez urges investment The future of Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez, also with a year remaining on his deal, is also uncertain. Talks continue this week between Benitez’s representatives and Newcastle chief executive Lee Charnley, but the Spaniard is demanding the financial backing to compete at a higher level, after finishing 10th in Newcastle’s first season back in the Premier League. Read more: How Rafa Benitez rebuilt Newcastle United – and won over a city “Now we must ensure we do the right things and that we’re on the same page,” Benitez said. “The fans have ambitions, we have ambitions, and we have to know everybody has the same feeling. The potential is there. Now we can do something more and we need to be better. “You need to sign players to be sure you have a good squad with competition. Don’t forget the medical staff, the sports scientists, the fitness staff, we’ve not had many injuries. Imagine this team with two or three injuries.
We need a squad capable of competing in the Premier League. “The main thing is if we want to achieve something you have to understand which is the way to achieve it: you need some money and a way to spend this money and a way to improve things, the transfer window now is so expensive, the academy, the facilities to attract players, all these things can make a difference to attract players. We have to sit down, talk and see where we are.”

The Egyptian has had an incredible debut season, scoring 43 goals in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp's side. His form has seen Salah emerge as a strong contender for this year's Ballon d'Or, reports the Liverpool Echo. However, Salah believes he's not yet in the same bracket as Messi and Ronaldo. "I don’t want to say I am happy with these kind of comparisons," Salah told Egyptian TV channel ON E. "Each of them has been at the top level for 10 or 11 years. Their performance level is stable. "I need to maintain my performance levels high for many seasons. I hope I can do that. They are great players and hopefully I become happy with these comparisons." Asked to pick the three best players he has ever seen, Salah went for Zinedine Zidane, Brazilian striker Ronaldo and Francesco Totti.Salah was just six years old when Zidane won the World Cup with France in 1998. The Liverpool star will come face to face with him in Kiev later this month when Jurgen Klopp's side face Zidane's Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

He added: "Who is the best in history? I will tell you about the ones I loved when I was young and saw as outstanding stars. "Zidane, Ronaldo and Totti are the ones I loved the most when I was young. I loved watching them so much. "I am lucky and so happy that I played with Totti (at Roma). We have very good relationship together and are still friends until now. I didn't see (Diego) Maradona and Pele play."
