Philippe Coutinho’s move to Barcelona could see Antoine Griezmann finally make the move to England. Coutinho and Atletico Madrid’s Griezmann were both on Barcelona’s wish-list but Liverpool’s £142m exit means Griezmann won’t being heading to the Nou Camp. Starsport understands Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho remains keen to add the Frenchman to his squad. But they face competition from rivals Manchester City who could move for Griezmann if their pursuit of Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez fails.
The Ukrainian club are prepared to consider offers for the attacking midfielder and there is plenty of interested in the 24-year-old. United and Arsenal are leading the chase but will face competition from Napoli, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and Valencia. United are readying a huge offer to tempt Arsenal star Mesut Ozil to Old Trafford this month. The Mirror claim that Mourinho is preparing a £35m bid for the playmaker and is willing to pay up to £300,000-a-week in wages. Paris St-Germain and Bayern Munich are also said to be keen on the Gunners’ contract rebel. Arsene Wenger hopes to keep the 29-year-old at the club until the summer, even though it would mean losing him for free.
