MANCHESTER UNITED TRANSFER NEWS LIVE UPDATES: LATEST ON ERIC DIER, ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC AND MORE... Saturday July 15 02:30: Kasper Schmeichel's hopes of a move to Manchester United are reportedly growing. According to the Mirror, United believe a bid from Real Madrid for current No1 David De Gea is imminent. And Schmeichel is an option for Jose Mourinho to replace the Spaniard. Leicester will apparently want at least £30m, while United will demand in excess of £60m for De Gea. 00:20: Jose Mourinho wants two more signings at Manchester United this summer. "We don't have our door closed. We are not happy with just Lukaku and Lindelof, we need more," Mourinho said.
"We wanted four, so I would say 50 per cent of the job is done, but I don't want to say that because everything is so difficult. "I would not like to be in Ed Woodward's position negotiating because everything is really difficult. So maybe we don't get two, we get one. But we need one more to give us more options. "We have players that belong to the squad but cannot play for the next few months – (Marcos) Rojo, (Ashley) Young, (Luke) Shaw and if Zlatan (Ibrahimovic) stays. We need two more players, I would say." Friday July 14 22:40: Jose Mourinho has opened up on Manchester United’s failed pursuit of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata. He said: “I don’t like to speak about players who aren’t ours, because Morata is not our player. I am nobody to speak about players from Real Madrid. “Yes, we have had interest, that is obvious and it’s public. We have not come to an economic agreement, that is obvious as well. “But it’s a Real Madrid’s right to ask for their players the amount of money that they want. “We do not determine what the price is of a player of Real Madrid, Real Madrid do that. And we didn’t arrive at an agreement with Real Madrid. “I do not criticise Madrid and I am not going to criticise my board because my board has made the offer, and they have tried to reach an agreement during a time, and they didn’t come to an agreement. It’s simple.” 22:35: Zlatan Ibrahimovic to return to Manchester United in the near future? Jose Mourinho says it’s possible.
When asked about the possibility of Ibrahimovic returning in January, Mourinho said: “Possible, it’s open, of course we wanted to be honest and open and let everything for him to make the decision. “At the same time let’s make a decision that makes us all happy and if that is for him to stay and for us to wait, let’s say in December maybe, because I don’t think before December he can get back to competitive football, but why not wait for a player who gave us so much. “We are changing ideas and it’s with Mr Woodward and Zlatan’s agent but the final decision is the best for the player.” Jose Mourinho
21:35: Inter Milan’s director of football Walter Sabatini has confirmed Manchester United are showing a ‘strong interest’ in Ivan Perisic. Inter are determined to keep hold of their star man and Italian publication CalcioMercato claim Sabatini would entertain the idea of selling him if United offer a player-plus-cash deal. “[Luciano] Spalletti doesn’t want him to leave but Inter only keep players who are happy to stay,” he said in a press conference. “Manchester United’s interest is very strong but they know what we think about the future or Perisic. “We decide Perisic’s price-tag and we’ll only sell him for a fair exchange [Sabatini hints that Inter may also accept a player-plus cash swap deal]. “Perisic is an amazing player and I hope he will always have the right behaviour here.
"Manchester United have many strong players but we decide the player's price-tag.” 20:21: Jose Mourinho has reportedly made Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic his No 1 target. The Red Devils have already spent in excess of £100million on centre-half Victor Lindelof from Benfica and striker Romelu Lukaku from Everton. But Mourinho is not done there, with Inter Milan winger Perisic also of interest to the United manager. And according to the Manchester Evening News, Mourinho has put the Croatia international at the top of his summer wishlist. Mourinho is said to have been pestering executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to push through a deal to bring Perisic to Old Trafford. 20:00: Jose Mourinho is set to speak to the media in Los Angeles any minute now. We'll bring you updates here if he so much as even raises his eyebrows when questioned about Nemanja Matic and Ivan Perisic. 18:20: Nemanja Matic has been left out of Chelsea’s pre-season tour as he looks to seek a move to Old Trafford. The Blues are heading off to China and Singapore next week as Antonio Conte gets to work on his pre-season training schedule.
The Telegraph claim this is the clearest indication yet that he wants Chelsea this summer and he has made it clear to Antonio Conte he wants to leave Chelsea. Matic's preferred choice is to reunite with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United and he will hold talks of his own with Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia in the coming days over his future. 16:10: Manchester United have confirmed goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has signed a season-long loan deal with Aston Villa. The club tweeted: “All the best to @SamJohnstone50, who will spend the 2017/18 campaign on loan at Aston Villa. #MUFC.” 13:15: Neymar is not interested in a move to Manchester United. In fact, he does’t care much about the Premier League. Asked by Dream Team FC about a proposed switch to England, the Barcelona star said: “No, no not yet. To be honest I’ve never thought about living in England. “I do watch the Premier League a little bit, but then again I don’t like to watch too much football. “I like to follow Coutinho and Gabriel Jesus just to see how they’re doing but I’ve never touched the subject of moving to the Premier League with them. “I’ve played in some grounds in England, I believe almost all of those from the big teams – it’s hard to pick one that I liked the most.” 12:30: Barcelona are closing in on the signing of Nelson Semedo after he was pictured wearing a club polo shirt having undergone a medical. Semedo became Barca’s top right-back target following the realisation that Hector Bellerin would be staying with Arsenal.
Manchester United and Manchester City were thought to be interested in the Portuguese talent. But Barcelona appears to have won the battle to capture Semedo from Benfica in a deal worth £30million. “FC Barcelona and Benfica have reached an agreement for the transfer of Nélson Semedo, pending medical tests on Friday in Barcelona,” the statement read.
12:00: Manchester United star Anthony Martial can thrive without Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the club, according to Mikael Silvestre. Martial mustered just eight goals in 42 appearances under Jose Mourinho, who left him out of the United squad entirely at times having grown frustrated with the France international. But Silvestre believes his countryman will succeed if his mentality begins to match his ability. "Zlatan's aura was big. So was his character, his ego, and what he was spreading around him was sometimes intimidating for the younger players," he told the Daily Star. "It also gives you an example to follow, so it was good to have him around. But for the younger players and Anthony, you'd expect them to score more goals. "Anthony has reached the level of Manchester United and the French national team, so I think he will answer the critics and improve his game to perform at least as the same level as his first season.
"Sometimes, when you take a slap to the back of the head, it's difficult to bounce back, and I think the whole season he was trying to get back to his best. "But his character is a good one, so I think he will answer the critics and do better.” 11:00: Dwight Yorke is thrilled that Manchester United signed Romelu Lukaku ahead of Alvaro Morata. Some United supporters would have preferred to have signed Morata from Real Madrid, but thinks Lukaku is the better addition. "In my opinion he's my first choice and I'm delighted he's joined our football club," Yorke said on ESPN FC.
"I know that the boy Morata is the people's choice because he's a more glamorous one. "But when you look in terms of consistency, in terms of what someone's done in the Premier League who has been there and done it over the past three seasons, Lukaku’s been one of the most consistent.” 10:00: Tiemoue Bakayoko is having a blast teasing Chelsea and Manchester United supporters with his social media activity today. As previously mentioned, Bakayoko arrived in London yesterday and is expected to undergo a medical at Chelsea’s training complex ahead of completing a £40million deal. But he’s toying with fans emotions. He’s set the location of his tweets from Manchester, and used red dots with love hearts in another post. The French midfielder has now used Instagram to follow Manchester United, but quickly unfollowed the Red Devils a few minutes later. 09:30: Anderlecht midfielder Leander Dendoncker is being monitored by Manchester United.
The Daily Mail claim he impressed Jose Mourinho when the two teams clashed in the Europa League last season. The 22-year-old even got on the scoresheet against the Red Devils in a 1-1 draw in Belgium. And he also played the full 120 minutes in the return leg at Old Trafford.
