The Egypt international has been a sensation in the Premier League this season following a return of 22 goals in 27 games in the English top flight following his strike at Southampton last weekend. The 25-year-old netted Liverpool FC’s second goal in a resounding 5-0 win against Porto in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash in Portugal on Wednesday night. Salah has become the 13th player to score 30 goals in a season for Liverpool FC following his £39m move from Serie A giants AS Roma last summer. Only Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has scored more times than Salah in Europe’s top five leagues in the 2017-18 campaign.
Former Chelsea FC midfielder Lampard explained why Salah has blossomed into one of the world’s most lethal goal-scorers. “Mo Salah is one of the top scorers in the world in club football and he’s not a centre-forward,” Lampard told BT Sport. “It’s because he comes and gets involved in stuff and is always arriving with his pace.” Salah played alongside Lampard for six months at Chelsea FC in 2014 before the African forward moved on loan to Fiorentina and AS Roma. Liverpool FC are in third place in the Premier League table and two points adrift of Manchester United in the race to secure a place in the Champions League.
