The Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, have visited President Muhammadu Buhari in London. President Buhari received the Senate President and the Speaker at the Abuja House on Thursday, five days after he hosted his media team. The Presidency confirmed the visit in a tweet. Details of the visit have not been disclosed by the Presidency, but it comes more than 100 days after the President travelled to the United Kingdom for medical treatment. His absence from the country has, however, triggered a number of reactions, including a couple of protests by some citizens under the auspices of “Resume or Resign” group. In the protest staged on August 7 in Abuja, the group asked President Buhari to either resume or resign his position, as well as disclosed the condition of his health status. Few hours after the protest, the Personal Assistant to the President on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie said the demand that the President should disclose his health status was disrespectful. Onochie said President Buhari’s absence has not affected governance in Nigeria because he handed over to his vice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, in accordance with the law.
