Toni Kroos believes only Leroy Sané’s attitude is holding him back from becoming one of the best players in the world. New doubts over Leroy’s mentality have surfaced this season with Pep Guardiola dropping him from the matchday squad against Newcastle amid concerns he hasn’t been up to scratch on the training pitch. Guardiola defended Sané as he does all his players, but it’s clear the prodigious young German has many more levels in him and his attitude will be decisive in him reaching his potential.

Guardiola defended Sané as he does all his players, but it’s clear the prodigious young German has many more levels in him and his attitude will be decisive in him reaching his potential.
Sané’s Germany teammate Toni Kroos has given his views on the topic and admitted he feels the City winger doesn’t seem to care what the result of a match will be, but that if he shapes up, he’ll be one of the best in the world. “You sometimes get the feeling that it doesn’t matter to him if we win or lose,” Kroos told BILD. “It’s about showing his qualities. Then he can be an absolute weapon for us.
“He has got everything to become a world-class player, but sometimes, he needs to be told what to do. If he brings all his quality to the pitch, he can help us a lot.” Sané is expected to feature for Germany against France in their UEFA Nations League opener on Thursday.
