And Lopetegui revealed after the game that he has an idea over who will play in goal in the future.
"I didn't give any roadmap, but we knew he was going to play this match and I won't say any more. "We have three great goalkeepers and we'll try to find the best solutions. We decided that Courtois would play this time, but we have excellent options. "Keylor Navas is our player and had a great game against Girona, before being named the best goalkeeper by UEFA. “We'll see how it goes, with the decision to be made on the pitch. We do, though, have an idea of what we'll do." Courtois seems to be enjoying life back in the Spanish capital despite his lack of game time.
The Belgian left Chelsea on poor terms this summer as he refused to train in order to force through a move to Madrid. He has taken digs at his former employers since and his latest comments about the club have wound fans up Chelsea fans further. Courtois made his debut Real Madrid debut on Saturday The goalkeeper expressed his belief that the level is 'higher' than at Chelsea, before taking a dig at the size of Stamford Bridge. "In training, you see that the level is high," he told Het Nieuwsblad, per Sportwitness. "I am now experiencing on a daily basis that Sergio Ramos is the best centre-back in the world. The level [at Real Madrid] is higher than at Chelsea. "[The Santiago Bernabeu] is twice as big [as Stamford Bridge], of course, it’s a very different feeling.
"If you look forward you only see a wall of people, while at Stamford Bridge you can still see the sky or the hotel behind the grandstand." Understandably, this has not got down well with Chelsea fans. Can't imagine too many of his former teammates will be happy with his comments, either.
