Chelsea continued their perfect start to the season with a 2-0 win over Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge. Goals from substitute Pedro and Eden Hazard in the second half sealed the deal for Maurizio Sarri’s men against Eddie Howe’s men, who put up a good fight.

Chelsea player ratings

Kepa Arrizabalaga (6/10)

Bournemouth did create a few chances but weren’t clinical enough. Hence, Kepa wasn’t called upon to make a save. He was good with his passing and apart from that, he didn’t have much to do.

Cesar Azpilicueta (6/10)

Consistently provided an attacking outlet on the right-hand side, but his crossing quality wasn’t good. Covered the spaces well when required.

Antonio Rudiger (7/10)

Was strong at the back with some robust challenges and played a lovely pass through the midfield, which started the build-up for the opening goal.

David Luiz (5.5/10)

The Brazilian continued his poor run of form and allowed lots of space for Callum Wilson to exploit on the counter attacks. He was ordinary with his positioning.

Marcos Alonso (7/10)

Was always an outlet for attacks from the left-hand side. Was involved in both the goals and he is improving defensively.

Jorginho (7.5/10)

Solid performance from the Italian international. He was crisp with his passing and pressed well to not allow any space for Bournemouth midfield.

Mateo Kovacic (6.5/10)

The Croatian midfielder worked his socks off during the game and made some good runs into the Bournemouth box. However, he failed to be a creative threat from midfield.

Willian (7/10)

The Brazilian playmaker was excellent in the first half, often building up play while being penetrative down the right wing. However, his impact on the match wore off after the break, and he was rightfully subbed for Pedro.

Álvaro Morata (5/10)

He made some good runs behind the Bournemouth defence but lacked the magic touch in and around the Cherries penalty box. Another mediocre display from the Spaniard.

Eden Hazard (9/10)

The Belgian international began the match quietly but slowly grew into the game as the game progressed. He was once again excellent on the ball and scored a late goal to earn his team maximum points from the contest.

Pedro (Subbed on after 64 mins) (7.5/10)

Added extra energy to the Chelsea attack and took his goal very well. Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Subbed on after 79 mins) (6/10)
