Jose Mourinho : Pogba will not captain United again, players respond to his decision

Mourinho has been publicly critical of Pogba after dropping the midfielder from his starting XI towards the end of last season and Barcelona were understood to be keeping close tabs on the situation in the summer. Pogba decided to stay on at Old Trafford but this has not put an end to the infighting which escalated once again after the Frenchman’s performance against Wolves.A second-half goal from Joao Moutinho cancelled out Fred’s opener and Pogba was party at fault for the Wolves’ equaliser after losing possession in midfield. The Portuguese questioned Pogba’s attitude and told his squad at the club’s Carrington training base that the Frenchman does not represent what a captain should be.

It’s claimed players were ‘happy’ with the decision. Pogba skippered United for their opening two matches of the campaign before Antonio Valencia took over the armband after returning to full fitness. You know you don’t have much of that. So you concede in a situation that it’s harder to accept. ‘That is one goal you concede. You have 90 minutes to show a different attitude and I think we have to do better.’ Paul Pogba was partly at fault for Wolves’ equaliser against Manchester United In response, Pogba said: ‘We are at home and we should play much better against Wolves, ‘When we are at home we should attack, attack, attack. That’s Old Trafford. We are here to attack.‘I think teams are scared when they see Man United attacking and attacking. That was our mistake.

‘Maybe the attitude should be better and we should play better because, again, we are at Old Trafford and we should just attack and press like we did against Tottenham, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal last season. ‘When we play like this it’s easier for us.‘I can’t tell you because I’m a player,it’s not me. ‘I’m not the manager, I cannot say that, but obviously we should show more option of playing, but I cannot say that because I’m a player. ‘That’s my way of thinking,we should move better, we should move more.’
