Former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane reportedly wants to succeed Jose Mourinho at Manchester United as early as next season. Zidane has not joined another club since leaving Los Blancos at the end of last term following a third successive Champions League crown at the Bernabeu.

There were rumours he could take the France job after the World Cup but Didier Deschamps now looks set to continue in his role after Les Bleus' triumph in Russia. Zidane now has his sights set on a Premier League role and is particularly keen on managing United, according to L'Equipe. Mourinho has had a tumultuous pre-season, complaining about the lack of transfer targets he landed and is seemingly at loggerheads with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
His style of play has been criticised despite United finishing second to runaway Premier League winners Manchester City last season.
