former Governor of Akwa Ibom, Godswill Akpabio, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC has appealed to the people of the State to forgive a grave mistake which he made in the past. Akpabio, who resigned as the minority leader of the Senate shortly after his defection begs the people to forgive him for imposing the incumbent governor of the State, Udom Emmanuel, on them.
Speaking to the crowd as reported, Akpabio said: “Udom (Emmanuel) is a mistake that must be corrected in 2019. All hands must be on deck to ensure that the mistake is corrected for a people-oriented leadership under the ruling All Progressives Congress at the centre.” According to report, he lamented the ill-treatment of the Akwa Ibom people by Governor Emmanuel as he blamed himself for forcing him on the people. Quoting Akpabio, “Emmanuel’s administration has failed the people,” forcing him to take decisive actions to correct the anomaly for posterity to be fair on him.”
He promised that the mistake would be corrected in the 2019 election, he also appealed to the people to ensure they cast their votes wisely.
