Arsenal’s latest signing in the summer transfer window has opened up about what actually convinced him to complete a move to the Emirates stadium.

After appointing Unai Emery as the new manager, Arsenal appear to be heading in a slightly different direction in comparison to how things were handled during the long reign of Arsene Wenger.

That has seen the club secure the signing of Stephan Lichtsteiner, a player who is expected to add more experience to the squad and also compete with the underperforming Hector Bellerin for a starting role at right-back. And when asked about what attracted him to Arsenal, the 34-year-old, who has been pocketing £48,000-a-week wages in Italy, revealed that Emery’s ‘project’ proved to be appealing. “There is a project. There is a project to come back into the Champions League.” the defender said “I think it’s hard to see a club like Arsenal not playing in the Champions League. “If you see the players, if you see the club, the stadium… it’s the project, the big opportunity to get back to the highest level.”
