Michael Carrick has confirmed he will retire from football at the end of the season. The 36-year-old underwent a medical procedure to correct an irregular heart rhythm late last year after suffering from dizzy spells. In the aftermath of that health scare he stated his intention to carry on playing, but has now decided to call time on a 19-year career. "There comes a time when as much as you don't like, it's time to stop playing football", he said. "That's pretty much where I am at".
