Jurgen Klopp says Virgil van Dijk won't be at his best until after the summer because he has to get used to Liverpool's style of play. The Reds parted with £75million to land the Holland international before the January transfer window had even opened. It was hoped Van Dijk would shore up a shaky Liverpool defence, and his debut looked promising as he netted the winner against Everton in the FA Cup. But he's looked far from his best in Liverpool's defeats to Swansea City and West Brom, prompting some concern among Reds fans. Few ups and downs. "We will see Van Dijk at his best after the summer. He has to get used to this style of play. Everton, outstanding, Swansea, good, West Brom, bad game for whole team." Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher recently voiced his concern over Van Dijk's conditioning on the Sky Sports' The Debate show. "I think he needs to get fit and lose a bit of weight. He actually looks too big. Maybe that's to do with not having a pre-season." Klopp aimed a dig at Jamie Carragher in his press conference In response, Klopp said: "When Virgil came here he wasn't match fit. I spoke to him about it [leaving him out the other night], he expected it. We have to use the time." "I'm sure that Jamie needs to lose a bit of weight. It's not an issue."
