Eden Hazard believes we were unfortunate not to emerge victorious from last night’s game against Barcelona, and the Belgian insists we will give everything in order to qualify when we play the second leg at Camp Nou next month.

Chelsea defended well during the first leg at Stamford Bridge and took the lead after 62 minutes courtesy of Willian’s low drive, but Lionel Messi netted an away goal for the visitors, meaning it’s all to play for in Spain.

Speaking to Chelsea TV Hazard said

‘I want to say that we should have won the game, but when you play against this kind of team you have to be focused 100 per cent,’ said Hazard, who went close with a couple of efforts and set up Willian’s opener. ‘We made one mistake but if we’d scored more goals the mistake doesn’t count, so a draw is a bad result for us because now we have to play in Barca and we know it’s going to be difficult. ‘We can play with our quality. We have good players, you could see that, so we can create a lot of chances. We will give everything to try to go through.’ Willian, on another night, could have scored a hat-trick, with the Brazilian denied twice by the post in the first half before he eventually beat Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Having scored twice against Hull last Friday, he carried his impressive form into last night’s game, and Hazard praised his team-mate for the quality of his performance.

‘I said to him that he needed to shoot in the goal and not try to touch the post,’ he smiled. ‘I said that to him in the first half and you saw in the second half he scored the goal. I’m happy for him, he played really well. He’s a top player and he showed that.’ On our last visit to Camp Nou, back in 2012, we secured a famous 2-2 draw which sent us through to the final. A repeat of that scoreline on 14 March would once again be enough, and Hazard spoke about how we will need to play in order to qualify. ‘More than perfect,’ the attacker responded, when asked what kind of performance we will need to produce. ‘We want to keep a clean sheet, for sure, and we will need to score if we want to go through. We have three weeks to be ready for the game and we will give everything.’
