The Chelsea FC legend is backing Liverpool FC to play out an exciting game against Porto in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash on Wednesday night

The Reds will make the trip to Portugal in the opening leg of the round of 16 tie as Jurgen Klopp’s side look to record a third successive win in all competitions. Liverpool FC eased to a comfortable 2-0 win over Southampton at St Mary’s on Sunday evening courtesy of goals from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah. The Egypt international has scored 29 goals in all competitions in his first season at Anfield following a £39m move to Liverpool FC from AS Roma last summer. The Reds scored 23 times in the Champions League group stage to set a new record for English teams in Europe’s premier club competition.

Only Manchester City have scored more goals than Liverpool FC’s tally of 61 in the Premier League this term. Former Chelsea FC forward Nevin is confident that the Reds will play out an entertaining first-leg clash with 2004 winners Porto on Wednesday night. “I am looking forward to the game,” Nevin told Newstalk’s Off The Ball podcast. “Every time I go to see Liverpool right now it’s mayhem. “I was in Sevilla for the 3-3 game. If you’re at a Liverpool game that I am at, it’s going to be fantastic and really enjoyable.” Liverpool FC lost 3-1 to Sevilla in the Europa League final in Basel under Klopp in 2016.
