Barcelona were playing their 12th game since returning from the winter break and boss Ernesto Valverde claimed his side were “fatigued” which caused them to drop points. However, Messi apparently pin-pointed the blame at one of his team-mates after he failed to make a positive impact. And that player is winger Ousmane Dembele, who has only recently returned from injury. According to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Messi felt that Dembele’s performance was below expectation. The Frenchman came off the bench on the 63rd minute and replaced Paco Alcacer but created little in the attacking third. It is also claimed that the 20-year-old’s passing inaccuracy angered his Argentine team-mate. Messi has reportedly told Dembele to buck up his ideas or move elsewhere when the transfer market re-opens in the summer Barcelona are expected to strengthen at the end of the season and Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann is their number one target. But for him to arrive players will have to depart. And Messi has now signalled who he thinks should make way, despite Dembele costing £96million from Borussia Dortmund last summer.
