Chelsea prepare shock loan exit for David Luiz after Antonio Conte bust-up

Chelsea have completed their first major deal of the January transfer window in the form of Ross Barkley. The Everton midfielder joins Chelsea for a fee believed to be £15 million and signs a five-and-a-half-year deal at Stamford Bridge. Speaking to the club’s official website about the move, Barkley said:
I’m overwhelmed, I’m looking forward to it and I’m really excited to get started. To be given a fresh start at a new club like Chelsea, it’s unbelievable for me. I’m looking forward to continuing where I left off at the end of last season and hoping to improve and add more goals to my game.
Barkley had been a long-term target for Chelsea and the Blues were close to signing the player during the summer. Reports suggested that the midfielder got as far as having a medical at the club before changing his mind. It is believed that the player turned down the move to focus on his recovery at Everton, with the England international yet to feature in the Premier League this season. The 24-year-old will also be available to feature in the Champions League for Chelsea, which will be an added boost for head coach Antonio Conte.
