Ryan Giggs has been confirmed as the new manager of Wales. The Manchester United legend replaces Chris Coleman, beating off competition for the job from Craig Bellamy, Mark Bowen and Coleman's assistant, Osain Roberts. Wales have been searching for a new boss after Coleman's shock decision to quit for Sunderland despite being offered a new deal. Wales need a new man to attempt to lead them to Euro 2020 after missing out on the World Cup. 
Giggs, 44, made 64 appearances for his country from 1991-2007, including 10 friendlies. Following his appointment, Giggs said: “I am so proud to have been given the honour of managing the national team. "The challenges that we have ahead of us with the Nations League and qualification for UEFA Euro 2020 excite me a great deal. I can’t wait to start working with the players as we prepare for those crucial games later in the year.” Football Association of Wales CEO Jonathan Ford added: "With his vast amount of experience having played, coached and managed the biggest club in the world, we are confident of a successful future for our national team.” Giggs, 44, who has been out of work since leaving his role as Manchester United’s No.2 in 2016, admitted last month that he was interested in replacing Coleman and described managing Wales as “one of the top jobs”. Wales do not play again until March when they are due to participate in the China Cup in the Far East.
