Mistake
Jurgen Klopp has claimed that while Lloris Karius was at fault for Manchester City’s first goal when the sides met on Sunday, it seems that the media only want to use the narrative that he made a mistake, and people won’t focus on the mistakes made at the other end. Klopp picked Karius over Simon Mignolet, and didn’t see that choice work out very well, with three goals conceded and Karius beaten at his near post, something that certainly got people talking and with the likes of Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher also claiming Liverpool need a new keeper, the narrative doesn’t look set to change for some time. “Yes of course it’s the corner where he was. You showed it to me. People always find the hair in the soup. Loris knows it. “The Man City goalkeeper probably caused Salah’s goal but nobody will talk about that. “We will see what it gives us for the rest of the season. To score four in the week after Phil Coutinho leaves the club is a big statement.
“To concede three goals was not too cool but as a manager if you play football like we do the rest will come. For tonight it’s perfect – that’s a fair result.”
Coutinho
Klopp made the point that to do so well without Philippe Coutinho in the side was huge, and it certainly seems that the club will not miss the creative star, who has of course joined Barcelona, if they carry on playing like that. However, one player they did miss was Virgil van Dijk, who signed in the summer and after seeing the side drop three goals and with the end of the game so much more nervy than Liverpool needed it to be, the defender is someone Klopp will want to see fit and in his side more often than not.
