The France international was lined up for a move to Old Trafford last summer. But he decided to stay at leave Atletico because they would have been unable to find a replacement after their transfer ban was upheld. Griezmann went on to sign a one-year contract extension with the La Liga side later that summer with a release clause believed to be at £89million. United also turned their attentions to Romelu Lukaku while Zlatan Ibrahimovic also re-signed for the club. And the Red Devils could now face competitions from Barcelona for the signature of Griezmann with recent reports suggesting Ernesto Valverde’s side are keen to push through a deal. However, The Sun claim Griezmann still has his hearts set on a move to Old Trafford. But their initial wage offer of £290,000-a-week falls short of the incredible money Griezmann wants to complete a deal. It is said he wants to be earning £400,000-a-week after seeing the transfer market prices sky-rocket. An Old Trafford spokesman told The Sun suggested it will be far from an easy deal to push through.

“The goalposts have moved significantly since the first attempt to sign Griezmann," they said. “The package offered last year which was agreed is now a lot less than what he wants next summer. “It might be too much even for us to afford. The club is desperate to sign him but it is an awful lot of money. “His people are making different demands which the club might be reluctant to give in to.”
