Alexis Sanchez has been training with the Arsenal reserves as he continues to wait on his move to Manchester United this month, according to reports. Arsene Wenger insisted on Thursday morning that a swap deal involving Sanchez and Mkhitaryan would be completed within 24 hours, with Gianluca di Marzio claiming the move would happen in a “matter of hours”. But the BBC’s David Ornstein has revealed that meaningful progress was unlikely to be made regarding the deal this Friday as Mino Raiola and Arsenal continue to negotiate particular aspects of the deal. And according to the Times‘ Paul Hirst, Sanchez has been made to train with the reserves until he gets the green light to make the trip up north. Mkhitaryan, who was all smiles at Carrington yesterday, arrived at the club’s training base once again this morning as he continues to wait for his move to North London. Perhaps we were getting slightly too overexcited imagining Sanchez starting against Burnley on Saturday. The reality is that, while the Chilean is clearly ready to move at a moment’s notice, plenty still needs to be done on Mkhitaryan’s side. Several details, such as his wage and Arsenal’s demand of a fee to go with the swap, still need to be ironed out.
