Getting paid £200,000-a-week is not such a bad idea, even if you are a footballer in the modern era but you could be swayed by the opportunity to become the best player while playing elsewhere, hence the reason some superstar footballer switch clubs.
The same is true for Chelsea forward Eden Hazard. He is almost at the peak of his career and the prospect of being named the best player in the world appeals to him more now than settling at a club he loves. Hazard has been arguably the best player in the English Premier League for the last four years, after he arrived from Lille. His mastery over the ball in tight spaces and how he glides past players makes him one of the most sought after players in world football. At times, his game and match winning abilities are likened to all time greats Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, although not as consistent at the top level across the four years of stardom. Having being voted the 19th best player in the world by France Football in the 2017 edition of the Ballon d’Or, not what many Chelsea fans appreciate, his quality is there for all to see and soon Real Madrid’s reported interest will be made solid. Next summer, the Los Blancos will come calling and Chelsea need to stand strong against the all-tempting whites. They can convince any player in the world, especially when Zinedine Zidane tells you, you are the heir to Ronaldo. Money cannot replace Hazard at Chelsea. Very few players in the world can do what he does with the ball and it will be plain naivety to think we can go into the market and get another Hazard, it just won’t happen.
