Jurgen Klopp has apologised for throwing a water bottle after Liverpool's dramatic equaliser against Arsenal - but Manchester United fans have not been left impressed. Liverpool had been leading 2-0 before Arrsenal scored three goals in just five second-half minutes in a remarkable topsy-turvy clash at the Emirates on Friday night.
Roberto Firminho's 71st-minute equaliser salvaged a point for Liverpool - which triggered a typically exuberant response from Klopp on the touchline. And the German was keen to apologise post-match ahead of possibly facing retrospective action from the FA. "I have made my apology but the people (Arsenal fans), if they would all apologise for what they said to me, it would take a little bit longer than my apology," he said. "I react sometimes a little bit strange.
"Maybe it's not nice. The ref told me. But I took it back and I could still empty it afterwards so nothing serious. "I was not happy about that moment but I really thought it was the least we deserved. That’s how I felt." The FA previously banned Jose Mourinho for one match for kicking a water bottle in United's 1-1 draw with West Ham last season, claiming he could have endangered people around him. And, given how Mourinho was bizarrely sent to the stands for 'encroaching' at Southampton earlier this season, United fans were not happy that Klopp was not punished at the time.
