Antonio Conte and Chelsea's hopes of retaining the Premier League title may be slim, but Wednesday's EFL Cup clash presents the perfect opportunity to focus on other silverware. Chesea's strong recent League run is counting for little in the title race as Manchester City continue their relentless march, leading the champions by 14 points having dropped just two points all season. While Chelsea look certain to relinquish their trophy to City, the Blues can still earn success elsewhere as Bournemouth travel to Stamford Bridge for Wednesday's EFL Cup quarter final. The EFL Cup may not necessarily be high up Conte's wishlist, but Manchester United proved last season that a Wembley cup run can help build a squad for potential European success.
Former captain, leader and legend John Terry thinks the club will stick with manager Antonio Conte, despite the speculation around his future. "I think they see him as a long-term manager and, having worked with him, I have to say the way he dealt with me and the way he deals with players and the tactical side of things he brings to the game is first class," he said on Sky Sports.
"I do think they will stick with him long term."
Here is today's big news from Standard Sport... Newcastle United have joined the race to sign David Luiz next month, but are only interested in a loan deal. Luiz's future at Stamford Bridge is uncertain due to his relationship with coach Antonio Conte. Arsenal are looking into buying a centre half next month and have been linked with a £30m move for the Brazilian.
