ANAMBRA— One of the leaders of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in Nkpor Anambra State, indentified as Chima Chibunna, has revealed that his life and that of his members are under serious threat by operatives of the Nigerian security agencies, following the declaration to boycott Saturday’s governorship election in the State. The Coordinator who recently spoke with The Biafra Times Correspondent, said the joint security operatives who constantly swoop the nooks and crannies of Nkpor, Onitsha and its environs in search of IPOB family members, have arrested some of his members, whose status and whereabouts are still unknown.
He also revealed that since two days ago, he has not been able to sleep comfortably in his house as security operatives constantly patrol and raid houses and shops in his vicinity, adding that not only IPOB family members has been arrested but also his close friends, associates and buyers who came to patronise him in his shop. According to Chibunna, “The Nigerian Police, army, SARS and others are after my life just because am a Coordinator of IPOB. They have searched for me many times which means am no longer safe here in Anambra. The place where I am now, am not comfortable but I pray for God to guide and protect me. I know that this kind of thing will happen one day because of the election but I don’t know it will happen before the election, I thought it may be after the election. “My eyes are so heavy, my heart is filled up with anger and am speechless, I’ve been weeping in my heart since yesterday morning till now, I can’t sleep in my house anymore.
“Yesterday morning, the Nigerian joint security Forces have been patrolling around our houses, shops and offices, arresting our IPOB family members especially our Coordinators, killing and taking some of them to an unknown destination. “They searched for me three times in my shop yesterday and they arrested two of my members, also my close friends and one of my fellow Coordinator in Nkpor here yesterday. The Coordinator’s name is Chukwudi Peter who coordinates Mgbachu unit, while Onyebuchi Udokwu is in the unit where I coordinate. “I also received an information that the total number of our family members they arrested in Nkpor yesterday was 13. I pray to Chukwu Okike Abiama to keep this our brothers safe in the hands of these enemies. But we will know what to do about that. We still remain formidable and resolute. “No retreat, no surrender.”
