Antonio Conte has warned Eden Hazard that he will need to continue to step his game up for Chelsea in the coming weeks and months.
The Belgian playmaker has been earning plenty of praise in recent weeks following his recent good form for the west London side. The 26-year-old seems to have regained full fitness after having missed the first few games of the season while recovering from a serious ankle injury. Hazard was in fine form in the first half of Chelsea’s clash with Liverpool FC on Sunday as the Blues ended up settling for a 1-1 draw. The midfielder has scored three goals and made two assists in the Premier League for Chelsea so far this season.
But although Conte has clearly been pleased by Hazard’s recent good form, the Chelsea manager admits that he’d like to see the playmaker continue to step his game up. Speaking in an interview with
Chelsea’s website,
Conte said: “Eden is an important player for us. “When he has more freedom to play as a second striker, he is very dangerous. At the same time, last season he played as a No.10 with Willian or Pedro and a striker. He is in really good form. “After surgery this summer he recovered very well. Now he is 100 per cent fit. He has to continue in this way.” Hazard will be expecting to start for Chelsea when the Blues return to Premier League action with a home clash against Swansea City at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
