Workers have been ordered to stay indoors after reports of a suspicious vehicle in the financial hub. A bomb disposal robot has been sent to streets surrounding the landmark skycraper, as officers cordon off the area. A spokesman for City of London Police said: "The City of London Police is currently in attendance in St Mary Axe following a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on the street. “The incident was reported to us at 11.32am on Tuesday and officers are on scene awaiting the arrival of specialist units.
“Road closures are currently in place in the surrounding area and people are advised to find different routes.” Specialist sniffer dogs are on the scene as an entire strip of the area is sealed off. The remotely-operated robot inspected a silver Ford focus car parked opposite the Gherkin.
