The Judge handling Nnamdi Kanu’s case, Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja has threatened to withdraw from the case of the IPOB leader. Justice Binta Nyako accused the defense of trying to frustrate the case. The judge gave this warning on Tuesday, October 17 following a series of arguments between her and the defense lawyers.
Report has it that the judge while reacting to an application by Kanu’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, threatened to withdraw from the case. She said: “If you don’t want me to continue in this matter, I will recuse myself.” Shuaibu Labaran who is the prosecution lawyer asked that Kanu’s bail be revoked and that the N100million bond posted by his sureties be collected.
However, the counsels to the defendants however asked that the case be heard differently. Justice Nyako then responded as she said she had the right to consolidate the charges. “So I don’t see why I should separate something I should have heard together.”
