Sergio Ramos has responded to a jibe from Jürgen Klopp after the German pointed the finger at him in relation to a couple incidents from the Champions League final.
As we’re all well aware of by now, Loris Karius and Mohamed Salah were both injured in the Champions League final, with the former suffering a concussion while the later was subbed off with a serious shoulder injury. Ramos was involved in both Liverpool players’ injuries and while I am not suggesting that the Real Madrid captain is to blame for the Reds’ European heartbreak, as Los Blancos were too good on the day, he certainly played a part in Salah missing the second half of the match.
And after Klopp suggested that Ramos has a history of shithousery (which he does), the Spaniard hit back, hinting that Klopp’s poor record in finals was the reason Liverpool didn’t win the game. Embed from Getty Images “Ramos said a lot of things afterwards that I didn’t like,” Klopp said. “As a person, I didn’t like the reactions of him. He was like: ‘Whatever, what do they want? It’s normal.’ No, it is not normal. If you put all of the situations of Ramos together then you will see a lot of situations with Ramos. “The year before against Juve he was responsible for the red card for [Juan] Cuadrado. Nobody talks about that afterwards.”
In response, Ramos said: “I already gave my opinion and I reiterate again, it is not intentional. It’s not the first final he’s lost, [maybe] he wants to use that as an excuse for losing. “There have been many repercussions after what happened to Salah in the Champions League final. Let Klopp worry about his own players. In fact, he’s one of the coaches I voted for as the Best of the Year, so perhaps he can stay a little calmer.”
